Arson has been ruled the
cause of a fire that destroyed the 163-year-old Atlas Feed and Grain building
on West Franklin
Street in Clinton March 12.
A Michigan State Police dog determined that an accelerant was present
inside the building, said a press release issued by Clinton Police Chief Michael Randolph.
Samples were taken to determine the accelerant type. Those results are pending.
Randolph said anyone with information
about the fire should call the Clinton Police Department at 517-456-4511 or the
Michigan State Police arson tip line at 800- 44-ARSON.
The tip line offers a reward of up to $5,000 to anyone giving information that
leads to the arrest and conviction of those involved.
The mill has been closed since 2007 and is owned by Fidelity Bank in Dearborn, said Clinton Fire Chief Dennis Keezer.
About 70 firefighters from six area fire departments fought the blaze.
