Email #6 & 7 From: David A. Macdonald To: John E Hoyt Cc: James Gibbs ; Terry Colegrove Sent: Monday, January 30, 2006 9:16 PM Subject: Phineas Corwin marriage John, It occurs to me that I gave information for the Colegrove marriages of Hannah Corwin and Edward Corwin but not that of Phineas Corwin, probbably because I was looking in the wrong place for the information. Phineas Corwin was admitted on 4 November 1779 to the Newent Congregational Church of Lisbon, Connnecticut.[1] On the same day Phineas Corwin of Norwich, Connecticut, John Rice, Justice, to Phoebe Colegrove of Coventry, Rhode Island, daughter of Stephen Colegrove.[2] Thus the marriage was no doubt conducted in Lisbon, even if it was entered into the vital records of Coventry, Kent County, Rhode Island. The Colvin names that appear in the Riverview Cemetery do not suggest that any of them were Corwins. The only David and Sarah Corwin that I know of in the relevant time frame were solidly in Orange County, New York, and there is no reason to believe that they would have made an excursion to eastern Connecticut. That simplifies my future greatly. Thank you once more for the helpful attachments. I think that we are probably through. David
