and his wife Catharina Lansing. She was named for Helena Lansing who was one of the sponsors. Though there is no marriage date for Helena Van Wie and Jacob Hallenbeck, we know they were married before 1794 when their eldest son,

John, was baptized at New Salem, Albany Co NY by the Rev Harmanus Van Huysen.I found the baptism records for all but two of the children and all 10 lived to maturity and were named as heirs of Jacob Hallenbeck.

Helena Van Wie was always listed as Lena in the baptism records.Helena Van Wie, baptized July 25, 1772 most likely married Walter Clarke on Feb 5, 1799 – she apparently went by Helen as she is listed as

Helen Clarke in the 1850 etc census. The lived in Broadalbin NY and their children were Walter, b 1799, Abigail, b 1804, Garrit, b 1805 and Catharine b 1806. (Walter and Abigail named for Walter Clarke’s parents;

Gerrit and Catharine, named for Hellen’s parents). The family is buried on the Old Clark Farm which was documented by Mrs. George Fenton many years ago.
