Source: Email: From: Clarinda Rew Troemel To: John E Hoyt Sent: Friday, January 18, 2008 1:34 PM Subject: Re: Lot Rew (Rue) tombstone Yes, East Bloomfield Cemetery,Ontario Cty,NY--no plot listed (Lot &Patience Rue tombstone). So expect it is entirely possible that there were three wives. Just found interesting comment in the paperwork of your family thatverifies that Sylvester Re w-born abt 1787-had 2 sons, Heman andSylvester--and that he probably abandoned his family a s everyonesuspected since his wife remarried and had at least one of the sonsliving with he r in 1850 with her new family. This is a real find-

Dofind Heman in 1880 living with hi s brother, Lot in Michigan after norecord of him since 1840. Have never found where he and L ot died yet.So many pieces to this family

But the Sylvester/Heman families will behappy t o get this confirmation. Clarinda LIVED: Will of Alma Rew, shows Sylvester, a brother of Testator, inNewstead, Erie Co., NY -jeh Copy of Will from Clarinda CHILDREN: of Sylvester & Abigail Rew From: Clarinda Rew Troemel To: John E Hoyt Sent: Monday, January 21, 2008 1:43 AM Subject: Re: Emailing: 100_3686 Thank you so much. Haven't had time to even look at this except I didnotice that Sylvester a nd Abigail Rew are shown with 2 children, Herman(actually is probably Heman) and Sylvester . Actually there are 6children and Sylvester is not one of them. A Sylvester and a differen tHeman are sons of Heman who was the rascal that probably disappeared fromhis family(as note d in your history) and then I find him again with hisbrother, Lot in Michigan in 1880. Dora Watkins (Aunt of the full blood of the decedent) According to our research and the attached documentation, Dora Watkinswas born about 1869, a daughter of Lewis Homer Watkins and Sarepta Gilmore Watkins.According to family members she did not marry, and had no issue. Dora Watkins was lastknown to reside in Los Angeles, California, when she was 78 years old. No recordother death has been located, In an effort to locate a record of the death of Dora Watkin(s), thefollowing searches were conducted; however, no matching records were located: California Death Index, 1940 - 1997 Los Angeles California Probate records - for Doris / Dora Watkins Florida death index, 1948 to 1968-no Dora Watkins Wayne County Michigan Probate records Social Security death index, [pt pg 36] [pt pg 37] Records were located for a Doris M. Watkins who died in Florida in May of1962, and a Doris Irene Watkins who died in Florida January 25, 1967 and both werefound not to be the daughter of Lewis Homer Watkins. Given that the 1948 obituary of Frank Watkins reported that his sister,Miss Dora Watkins, survived him in Los Angeles, California, and that this form ofaddress indicates that she was unmarried, it may be reasonable to conclude that she nevermarried and had no issue. Given that her relatives were known to reside in Michigan andFlorida, records in these states were searched also. Attached hereto are: Exhibit #145 Letter from Michigan Vital Records, which reports thatno death was registered in the State of Michigan for Dora Watkins in 1948, 1949, 1950 and 1951. Exhibit #146 Letter from Orange County Library, Orlando Florida, which reports that no death was located from 1948 to 1968 for Miss Dora Watkins in the Florida Death Index. Notes:

Birth & Death source from Ferolyn Nerreter Hunter Family Tree, Heirsestate & probate. FerolynHeirs: [pg 26] The issue of Lewis Homer Watkins and Sarepta Gilmore Watkins follow; 1. Ella M. Watkins Jacobson (Aunt of the full blood of the decedent) According to our research and the attached documentation, Ella M. Watkinswas born January 1, 1863 in Pennsylvania, a daughter of Lewis Homer Watkins andSarepta Gilmore Watkins. She married Charles Jacobson November 3, 1880 and theyhad one issue; namely, Carl W. Jacobson- Ella M. Watkins Jacobson died April 29,1943 at Traverse City, Michigan. Attached hereto are: Exhibit #97 Certified copy of the marriage certificate of CharlesJacobson and Ella M. Watkins, which reports that the groom is age 27 and was born in Denmark; that the bride is age 17 and born in Pennsylvania; and that they were married November 3, 1880 at Beaut, Michigan. Witnesses are Homer Watkins and L. Watkins. This record does not report whether or not the individuals were previously married. Exhibit #98 Copy of an excerpt of the 1900 U.S. Federal Censusenumeration for Ella Jacobson, which reports that she is age 37; was born in Pennsylvania;that her marital status in unknown, and she resides as an inmate of the Northern Michigan Asylum. Exhibit #99 Copy of an excerpt of the 1900 U.S. Federal Censusenumeration for Charles Jacobson, age 47, which reports that he has been married 12years. He is enumerated with Ambrose Larouah, as one of numerous servants who are lumber workers. He is likely the husband of Ella Jacobson. Exhibit #100 Copy of an excerpt of the 1910 U.S. Federal Censusenumeration for Ella Jacobson, which reports that she is age 46; was born in Pennsylvania;that she is married, and she resides as an inmate of the Northern Michigan Asylum. Exhibit #101 Certified copy of the certificate of death of Ella Jacobson, which reports that she was born January 1, 1863 in Pennsylvania, is married, and died April 29, 1943 at Traverse City, Michigan. Exhibit #102 Copy of the cemetery record of Ella Jacobson, which reportsthat she died April 29, 1943, age 80, and was interred in the Traverse City cemetery. A search was conducted of the Birth records of Bay, Grand Traverse, andSaginaw counties, Michigan from 1880 to 1905, and no children were recorded asbeing born to Ella Watkins and Charles Jacobson. No probate record was located in BayCounty, Michigan for Charles Jacobson (husband of Ella Jacobson). [pg 26] [pt pg 27] According to Billie Jeane "Betty" Watkins Dane (daughter of Raymond HomerWatkins), the name Ella Watkins Jacobson (daughter of Lewis Homer Watkins andSarepta Gilmore Watkins) was not included in the family records and was unknown to her;it is possible that she was estranged from the family due to her mental illness. Miss Dora Watkins, of Los Angeles, California. Given that the obituary of Frank Watkins reports that there were ninegrandchildren surviving, living family members were interviewed, and all agreed thatthe obituary was in error, and that there are only five grandchildren. Given that FrankWatkins was divorced at the time of his death, it is possible that his obituaryrefers to step- [pg 29] [pt pg30] grandchildren; however, this has not been confirmed.
