If my said son Joseph Spry should die without such issue then I give his part of the said tr a ct of land to my said son FrancisSpry, his male heirs and assigns foreven I give unto my t w o sons John Spry and Thomas 140 acres of land being part of two tracts called Freindship t o b elaid cut by a South line 74 degree West, to be equally divided between them both and Joh n t o have his part next to the Branch, to them and their male assigns forever. if my said son John Spry should die without such issue then I give his part of the said two tracts of land to my said son Christopher Spry, his male heirs and assigns forever. I give to my son William Spry the other half of my dwelling plantation and lands therunto be l onging during his Mother's life. I give to my beloved wife Rebecca, a horse the choice of all I have with a saddle andbridl e a nd house and service of my Negro girl called Lidia over and above the third part of my mo vabl e estate during her natural life The following was transcribed from the "Early Colonial Families of the Eastern Shore of Maryl and, Vol. 3, by Robert Barnes. Francis was born circa 1717 and died by May 1767. (MDAD Liber: 44.222) He married on 30 Dec 1736 Elizabeth, daughter of John Hackett. He inherited 200 acres "Spry' s Adventure." (Maryland Archives has him married to Elizabeth, dau and devisee of John Hacket t on 10 Nov 1741. QALR RTB.384) On 10 Nov 1741 Francis Spry, Jr., and his wife Elizabeth, dau. and devisse of John Hacket, co nv to James Brown, Gent. 1/3 of 100 a. on Hambleton's Branch, part of Hambleton's Heritage, p urchased by John Hacket of William Hambleton of TA Co. and his wife Margrett, on 12 Feb 1701 . The land was devised by Hackett to his three daus.: Rachell, Hannah, and Elizabeth Hacket t (QALR RTB:384) He died in Queen Anne's County where the inventory of his estate was filed on 24 Mary 1768 b y John Spry, administrator. Benjamin Gould and Abner Dudley appraised his personal property a t pound11.17.5. George Seeger and John Wells signed as creditors and Thomas Spry and Franci s Spry as next of kin (Maryland Inventories Liber: 97:129) According to the Spry article in the Maryland Genealogical Society Bulletin, Francis and Eliz abeth had two sons: John, b. 19 Mar 1737 and Francis, b. 28 Feb 1740.
