Rank - Induction: PRIVATE Rank - Discharge: PRIVATE Roll Box: 196 Roll Exct: 602 Will of Caleb Spry dated May 15, 1821 and probated June, 1821. In the name of God Amen, I Caleb Spry of Queen Ann’s County in the state of Maryland being we ak in body but of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding considering the eventual ity of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and being desirous to settle my worldl y affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God t o call me do therefore make and publish this my last will and testament in m______ and as fol lowing that is to say. Item: I give and bequeath to my two grandchildren Henry Spry Comerford and Mary Ann Comerfor d, children of my deceased Daughter Anna Maria fifty Dollars lawful money of the United State s to each of them to be paid on the occasion of them respectively arriving to lawful age. Tha t is to say, Henry Spry Comerford to the age of twenty-one years and Mary Ann Comerford to th e age of sixteen years and not before. Item: I give and bequeath of my Daughter Emily Britton the sum of Three Hundred Dollars lawf ul money of the United States to be paid in the following installments to (viz) One hundred D ollars to be paid at the expiration of one Year after my decease, One hundred Dollars at th e expiration of two years after my decease and the remaining one Hundred Dollars to be pai d a the expiration of three years after my decease. Item: I give and bequeath to my son Caleb Wright Spry my Negro Boy Mofes to the service of th e said Caleb Wright Spry until the end of the year Eighteen Hundred and Forty and no longer . And from then on it is my will and desire that the said Boy Mofes shall be free from all s lavery or servitude and be completely free. Item: I give and bequeath to my son Joshua George Spry, my Negro boy Richard to serve the sa id Joshua George Spry until the end of the year Eighteen hundred and forty five and no longer . And from then on it is my will and desire that the said boy Richard shall be free from sla very or servitude and be completely free. It is also my will and desire that should either o f my two sons above marry or die before the end of time for which the two Negro boys are to s erve that in such event the survivor of my two sons to have both Negro Boys until their respe ctive time of service shall by fully ended and Completed. Item: I further give and bequeath to my son Joshua George Spry the sum of Five Hundred Dolla rs lawful money of the United States to be paid to him by executors on his coming to the ag e of twenty-one years. Item: I give and bequeath to my loving wife Mary Spry all the residue of my personal Estat e after my lawful debts and all legalities are paid. I further give and bequeath to my sai d wife all my Real Estate whereon my son in law William Britton now resides for and during he r natural life and at her decease it is my will and desire that my son Caleb Wright Spry an d his heirs forever shall have and hold all my Real and personal estate above described the n remaining. But should my son Caleb Wright Spry died before he arrives to the age of twent y one years or before the death of my said wife Mary Spry that in either of those cases, it i s my will and desire that my son Joshua George Spry and his heirs in fee shall forever shal l have an hold all my real and personal Estate as last above mentioned, described and was t o be the right and estate of the above named Caleb Wright Spry. And it is further my will an d desire that should my son Joshua George Spry die before he arrives to the age of Twenty on e years that then and in that event the sum of five hundred dollars bequeathed to him in thi s instrument of writing should then be paid by my Executors to my son Caleb Wright Spry and a t the time my said son Joshua George Spry would have arrived to the age of twenty one years t he time to which he was to receive it had he lived to the aforesaid age of twenty one years. And lastly I hearby constitute and appoint my dear wife Mary Spry and George Spry to be my so le Executors of this my last will and testament revoking and annulling all former wills by m e heretofore made ratifying and conforming this and no other to be my last will and testament .
