He was a respectable man, and lived in Clinton County, Mich. He has nochildren. Herman was a worthless scamp, all his days,and perhaps yet living. What is the question about Hezekiah--you have never mentioned this to methat I remember? Was able to obtain a death certificate for Herman (probably Heman) Rewfrom Clinton Cty,MI fo r death date of 21 Jan 1897, age 85,place of deathBingham of pneumonia with occupation as vet erinary surgeon. No parents orplace of death noted. No death certificate for Mary Rew, wido w of Lot ineither Clinton or Eaton Cty where she was supposed to have died at herdaughter's h ome per obituary. No explanation for that. No deathcertificate for Abigail Rew in Clinton C ty,either. Either poor recordsor died elswhere before being buried in Clinton Cty,MI. Stil l followingup other clues. Findings keep piling up and once spring and yard workstarts, I ki nd of wind down for the summer. Clarinda RECORD: In 1717 Hezekiah Rew of Milford purchased land from the Hickoxbrothers at Judd's Mead ows, a place north of what is now known asNaugatuck, New Haven County, Connecticut, and cam e to live there not longafter. In time, he bought of Ebenezer Hickox the old fulling-mill sit eand operated a grist mill for a year or two. He is shown as a settler atJudd's Meadows as la te as 1735. Hezekiah Rew's name stands first on thechurch list at Bristol, Hartford County, C onnecticut. In 1744 he signed apetition asking the General Assembly for incorporation as a re gularecclesiastical society. He served in the various offices of the societyfrom sexton to mo derator. He deserves special recognition for the tenyears service he rendered as the society' s clerk. In 1747 he wasappointed deacon of the Congregational Church along with David Gaylord .Judging from his clerical work, he was a fair scholar, a man of goodjudgement too. He was ap pointed to the task of "dignifying the meetinghouse," according to a custom by which the memb ers were seated withreference to their age, position, and wealth. He also built the firstgris t mill at Bristol. He lived on Peaceable Street just south of ParsonNewell, on the corner whe re Elias Ingraham's residence stood.
